In 1982, VJ Glass was born through the collaboration of John Victor Grayson and Vincent James Kirley. The name “VJ Glass” was coined from the alternating initials of their names, marking the beginning of their entrepreneurial journey.
The early days saw VJ Glass operating out of a modest space in the George Street Arcade in South Windsor. However, as demand grew, they soon outgrew this location.
After just a year, we relocated to a larger shop at the corner of George & Argyle Streets in South Windsor, signaling a period of expansion and increased visibility for the business.
With growth came the need for a larger team, and VJ Glass quickly expanded, employing seven staff members, including apprentices, project leads, a lead light manufacturer, and tradesmen.
In 1990, VJ Glass moved to a larger factory unit in South Windsor, marking a significant milestone in their journey.
Following Vince Kirley’s retirement, John assumed full ownership of the company. Over the years, they continued to invest in talent, with family members like Matt Grayson (2015) and Bailey Garemyn (2020) joining as apprentices and later becoming qualified glaziers.
In 2020, VJ Glass relocated to its current premises at 4/53 Argyle Street, South Windsor, affirming its commitment to serving its customers from a modern and accessible location.
A generational change for the business with Matt Grayson taking over full ownership, whilst John carries on in an advisary role until his planned retirement.
Today, VJ Glass remains a proudly family-owned and operated business, carrying forward a tradition of craftsmanship and service excellence that has defined its legacy.
